Cambodia Continues to Work Together with China in Fighting Transnational Crime

Phnom Penh: The Royal Government of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China have pledged to continue working together to prevent and suppress all kinds of transnational crime. This is to serve the social development and mutual benefit of the people of the two countries. Minister of Interior Sar Kheng who represents the Kingdom of Cambodia with the high permission of Prime Minister Hun Sen has signed the continued work plan with China.

Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, Zhao Kerjie, says in a video conference that they will to further strengthen and expand more active relations and cooperation to achieve new achievements to the social development and mutual benefit of the people of the two countries. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to focus on a number of areas, including the continued to strengthen cooperation to prevent all types of transnational crime, especially crimes involving illegal online gambling organisations, systemic fraud, telecommunications and drug trafficking.

This will also lead for the two governments to work closely and support each other to serve the successful celebration of major national and international events, including the role of ASEAN Chairmanship 2022, Beijing Winter Games 2022 and the 32nd SEA Games 2023, as well as other major national events. Both sides expressed their sincere appreciation for the good relations between the two countries' top leaders and the close cooperation in all fields in the strategic partnership at all levels, which has contributed to the progress and development of the peoples in Cambodia and China.

The two Ministers have expressed their mutual appreciation for the efforts of law enforcement forces of both sides to firmly maintain security, public order and social security, even in complicated risk factors caused by Covid-19. They also shared and exchanged views on the general security situation and noted the progress of fruitful cooperation and mutual support in fighting the epidemic of Covid-19, providing technical and technical support, capacity building, exchange of professional delegations, especially cooperation in preventing and suppressing all kinds of cross-border crimes.
